Kitchen Skills, Tools and Gadgets with The Kimchi Dude!

September 5, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Randy Ryan, “The Kimchi Dude,” will present a program at The Greenhouse Project at Nay Aug on Thursday, September 5th at 6 p.m.

Learn how you can make delicious and nutritious dishes in your home kitchen without spending a lot of money on expensive gadgets. The secret to his success in operating a functional kitchen is in simplicity. In this presentation he will demonstrate how he is able to create almost any meal you can dream up using a minimal number of basic hand tools. He will discuss why he chooses each of the tools and how to use them to their maximum potential with hopes of saving the attendees money on unnecessary kitchen gadgets while increasing their culinary ability!
The Kimchi Dude was a concept formed in 2013 when Randy weighed 400 lbs, was plagued with symptoms of diabetes, and had hit financial rock bottom. He began increasing his physical activity and transitioned to a whole food plant based lifestyle. This transition was made easier because of his culinary background beginning when he was 13 working full time at an Italian Restaurant in New York followed by a bakers apprentice position, experience in the Mohegan Sun kitchen, and time working with What The Fork Food Truck. He has since dropped over 160 lbs and experiences little to no illness throughout each year. He first began producing and selling Juice at local markets in 2014, opened his first full menu plant based eatery in 2018, and was voted NEPA’s Best Vegetarian Friendly Restaurant of 2019 in the Weekenders Readers Choice Awards.

Food samples will be served. Suggested donation is $5.00. The Greenhouse Project is located in the James Barrett McNulty Greenhouse, 200 Arthur Ave., Scranton, PA in Nay Aug Park. Please meter park on street or park adjacent to greenhouse or in parking lots at Nay Aug Park. (Greenhouse is located southwest end of park across street and down from Geisinger CMC.)
